Orange pouch passed away... 23/04/2026

Hey fellas, just a small update as this one is sadly very important.
I know it's pretty silly to mourn over a fish but when you've kinda been their main caretaker all their lives, you get to see alot of their life, behaviour and activity around a tank.

And orange pouch had one *helluvah* life. When i first got him, i was very inexperienced in the guppy field. and unfortunetly had to learn ALOT of things the hardway, and he was a testament to how tough guppies could be.
lil orange not only survived, but thrived in a chaotic 6 male terf war for territory, survived the catastrophic tanin poisoning due to my inability to properly boil driftwood, went on to produce at LEAST four new generations of guppy fish that now occupy the tank and lived to see the tank not only make a comeback in terms of fauna, but for it to protect his young and to finally witness me bringing back feeder fish that can help stablise the tank for future generations to come.

After observing his behaviour, making sure he was permantly detoriating with no sign of recovery and ensuring he passed away peacefully, Checking the tank and population, i can safely say, albeit sadly, that his swim bladder finally gave in and he was no longer able to swim or feed himself.
Yeah, life'll go on. And while i feel a bit upset with this news, i keep looking to the tank and seeing the legacy he left behind, the legacy i'll keep looking after for as long as i can, and i feel better.
So, thank you Orange pouch, for showing me how to be a better owner for the next generations you've left behind.

NEW SITE LOOK!!! 07/04/2026

Oh wowie! This place got a makeover!

I decided to spruce up this lil neat part of the pond, afterall, it's an important part of it! all information should be easier to read (hopefully!) and condensed into this handy lil scroll bar, how neat! :>D Of course, if there are any issues you may encounter, don't be afraid to let me know!! it's part of the learning process afterall!

IT WOOOORRKKKKSSSS 04/04/2026/

AHAHHAHAA YEEESSSSSSSS! minor guppy tank update but my very simple and straightforward hypothesis was right! my guppy tank DID need a bigger light in order to sustain plant life! Since i've installed the new one that plants have absolutely sprouted and continue to grow at a more fast pace. I'm tempted to order some liquid fertilizer to help the process, but i also heavily enjoy just watching them take their time and gradually filling in my lovely guppy tank. It's been so long since they've had actual hiding places T-T. The shrimp tank is absolutely thriving, in both plant and inhabitants! I've recently bought some more varied shrimp food for the lil fellas such as dried mixed veg, as I'd like to try and give them more dietary options, it must absolutely suck eating the same thing over and over again and what if dried spinach is NOT your fave food!?!? pssst, also im hoping to try and upsate this site soon! currently im working on a SUPER SECRET one which takes a lil more priority but i've been brainstorming a few sketches, hopefully i can sneakily show you some!

Candy's photoshoot. 24/03/26

i caught a REALLY nice photo of Candy in her tank, felt giddy, had to share, BEHOLD! Candy!!!

THE GUPPY TANK UPGRADES!!11! 20/O3/2026

Hi hi hi! fresh update super duper fresh, like, straight outta the fish shop fresh- THE GUPPY TANK NOW HAS A PROPER LIGHT!! For awhile it was REALLY bugging me and i didn't really the funds at the time but now i do so i spent it on a much better LED light that can also turn into blue light!! and it's adjustable brightness levels wise so i can make sure my fishies are getting juuussst the right amount of light each day. It's often advise that your tanks always needs AT LEAST 8 hours of light and no one likes to live in the dark (well...unless its a nocturnal fish then yeah probably a better idea to not have a light). BUT aside from that, i also went a redecorated the bottom and put some new plant life there!! because my light was so tiny, alot of plant life couldn't actually GROW. and would often die and get eaten by the snails as a result. But already things seem to be improving! A few of the plants are already now upright and at starting to stretch out (yipeee!) so heres hoping it continues! Also i found more baby shrimps! they're so TINY and absolutely EVERYWHERE i adore them so much, its a shame i can't get a good enough picture but i'm going to see if i can bring my old camera to life and see if that does them any justice, it'd be a crime to hide these beautiful babies away from the world!!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! (two days late but still an update!!) 11/03/26

So imagine this right? It's 2am, you've just gotten home from a pretty nasty shift at work, You're tired, you reek of work stink, you forgot to do food shopping again so you can't have a late night snackie and it's too late to wind down and do anything because you're back on the clock again in like, 8 hours. So you flick on your aquarium lights and just throw yourself into bed and stare at these little bundles of joy who live in absolute whimsy and luxury and never need to worry about stupid concepts like "rent" or "savings" or "doing the dishes" etc etc. You're winding down and go to call it a night, reaching over to hit the lights but you stop. You're eyes catched quick movement that you don't recongnise initially. You've observed this tank time and time and time again you know EXACTLY how each little critter moves in there and that was completely out of the ordinary. So you crouch down, quickly scanning the tank, thinking "hey what was that? Did a stray guppie get in there somehow?" "did those corydora eggs i place in there finally hatch?" and of course: "Oh god, please don't tell me i have a new potential bacteria thingie i need to research for an hour to ensure its safe" but NO! NO! BEHOLD! MY EYES WIDENED MY HEART HALTED AS I FINALLY SAW THE LITTLE THING THAT MADE THE MOVEMENT, IT WAS- LADIES AND GENTLEMEN-:

BABY SHRIMP!!!!!!!!!!! you have NO idea how long i've been trying to get my little colony to reproduce, i was over the MOON and started weeping (i know, pretty embarrassing right?) after i calmed down i very happily shared the news with some friends who were confused, but supportive-ish of this mini victory of mine. For some reason shrimp have been my main challange in maintaining and given such a gritty week they were like a blessing from god or fate or whatever, i don't care, i'm always happy to see new life in these tanks that i've curated for these little guys. i've brought some more fish food specifically for baby shrimp in the meantime and have found out who's the father, which was pretty easy it was the only blue velvet shrimp i had in my tank and the babies look JUST like him. And he's been busy two because so far i have found two female brown shrimp that now have eggs so this is really exciting!!!11!! So for now i won't put any other critters in this tank at LEAST until the mama's have spawned all these lil shrimpies and they're at a reasonable size. So yeah, its finally taken off!!!!!!!! yay!!! ADDITIONAL NOTE. I have just discovered yet ANOTHER mama shrimp in the tank!!! i am going to cry again!!! more babies!!! yay!!!!!!

Introduction.

Hi there! Welcome to the fishpage! You're probably wondering "fishpage? why is there a fish page on a webpage that has ducks in it?" well thats because i own fish!!!

It started last year when i finally had a pond to call my own, i was DESPERATE for a lil' critter to take care of, but i wanted to make sure it was something i could give the right amount of attention and care for.

I thought about a gerbil initially, but they can get pretty messy (no hate though!! they are adorable) so after countless days and nights researching, and looking to see what would be compatible with my lifestyle, personality and amount of time and care i could give it, i eventually decided on shrimp! Neocardina shrimp specifically.

And oh boy that was a stressful! The First few months of learning how shrimp work was pretty stressy, its one thing watchingcountless tutorials and videos, but it's another actually taking care of them, and in a way, kinda helped me to take care of myself!

Once i felt confiden, i started experimenting. One tank became two, then three- and now four! I now also look after corydoras, guppies and My own lil superstar Betta fish: Candy!

I'd love to eventually get a MASSIVE tank and get a lil' axolotol in the near future. they're very dumb, but very endearing little guys and i'd love to look after something like that long term. So in a way, this is all training and preparing for that!

And it's not only that, but i love trying to cultivate and grow the plants for their tanks, maintaing the enviroment they live in, and overall watching them change and develop along with the ecosystem i made for them, its really fun!

So yeah, this is my little fishlog, I yap way too much about my fish in person and i wanna tell as many people as possible, because they make me feel proud. And cool. I feel so cool looking after fish.
